Can't Afford The Bail: 3 Things Considered When Requesting A Reduction

Blog

If your loved one is under arrest, but you can't afford the bail, the first thing you need to do is find a bail bond agent. In most cases, you can secure a bail release with a small percentage of the cash upfront. If your loved one has been hit with a high bail amount, they might need to request a bail reduction. If that's the case, you also need to hire a criminal defense attorney as soon as possible. The defense attorney and bail bond agent can work together to secure your loved one a bail release. If you're not sure how a bail reduction works, read the list provided below. The answers to these questions are used to determine whether a bail reduction is appropriate.

What Charges are Pending?

If your loved one needs to request a bail reduction, the judge will consider the charges that are pending. Bail is determined by the type of crimes that are alleged. If your loved one is facing a felony, the bail will be considerably higher than it would be for a misdemeanor. But, that doesn't mean that the bail can't be reduced. In some cases, the judge will reduce bail to an amount that's more affordable.

Is There a Criminal History?

If you can't afford to post bail for your loved one, and they've requested a bail reduction, the judge will consider prior criminal history. In other words, if your loved one has a long criminal history, it may be harder to get a bail reduction. But, if this is your loved one's first offense, the judge is more likely to grant a bail reduction.

Are There Established Roots?

If you're trying to get a bail reduction for your loved one, take a look at their history in the community. If you and your family have established roots in the community, the judge may be willing to grant a bail reduction. But, if your loved one is new to the community, or they were traveling when they were arrested, you might have a hard time securing a bail reduction. That's because the risk of flight is too great when there isn't a tie to the community.

If your loved one has been arrested, visit a bail bond agent as soon as possible. If you can't afford the bail, work with your bail bond agent and a defense attorney to secure a bail reduction.

Creating A More Secure Business

I have always been one of those people who loves to get involved with business, but a few years ago, I realized that my company had a few security problems. We were losing a lot of money to shoplifting, and it seemed like every time I turned around another employee decided to steal from us. I started thinking about ways to make things better, and so I started focusing on creating a more secure business. This blog is all about working with security teams, making positive changes to your business, and avoiding the kinds of debilitating losses that can come from theft.
